A priest with a dark past and a novice nearing her final vows are sent by the Vatican to Romania to investigate a nun's death and face a demonic force.
The Nun leans heavily on jump scares and gothic atmosphere over coherent storytelling. The plot is thin and derivative, recycling familiar possession and demonic horror tropes without adding much new to the Conjuring universe. Acting is serviceable but largely unremarkable, with characters feeling underdeveloped. Cinematography is the film's strongest suit, with moody Romanian castle settings and effectively dark, fog-laden visuals that create genuine atmosphere. Novelty is low — despite the striking visual of Valak, the narrative is formulaic and follows a predictable horror template. The ending is underwhelming and relies on conveniences to resolve the conflict.
