A romantic drama based on the story of Carley Allison, a promising 18 year old figure skater and singer who made medical history in her fight against a rare 1 in 3.5 billion type of sarcoma.
Kiss and Cry tells the real-life story of Carley Allison with genuine heart, blending figure skating, music, and a terminal illness narrative in a way that feels personal rather than generic. The acting is competent and emotionally grounded for a lower-budget Canadian production. Cinematography is serviceable with some nice ice rink sequences but nothing visually distinctive. The story itself, while inspiring, follows familiar illness-drama beats, limiting its novelty somewhat despite the unique real-world subject. The ending, constrained by the tragic true story, lands emotionally but feels somewhat abrupt and conventional in its execution.
