The Quartile Take

This TV remake of the beloved 1987 original fails to distinguish itself in nearly any dimension. The plot faithfully retells the same story but lacks the electric chemistry and pacing of the source material. Acting is underwhelming across the board, with the leads unable to match the charisma that made the original iconic. Cinematography is competent but flat, lacking visual flair. Novelty is extremely low — this is a straightforward, uninspired remake that adds little to the original concept beyond length and a few musical numbers. The ending attempts to expand on the original but feels unnecessary and tonally off.
