The Quartile Take

The Postcard Killings is a fairly by-the-numbers serial killer thriller that hits familiar beats without much deviation. The plot follows a predictable grieving-cop-hunts-killer structure with twists that feel telegraphed rather than earned. Jeffrey Dean Morgan brings some presence to the lead role, elevating the material slightly, and the European location shooting adds a touch of visual interest. However, the killer's methodology, while stylized, doesn't feel especially distinctive in a crowded genre, and the resolution is unsatisfying and rushed. The film adapts James Patterson's novel competently but without much cinematic ambition, landing as a watchable but forgettable genre entry.
