Batman discovers a mysterious teen-aged girl with superhuman powers and a connection to Superman. When the girl comes to the attention of Darkseid, the evil overlord of Apokolips, events take a decidedly dangerous turn.
Superman/Batman: Apocalypse is a solid DC animated feature adapting Jeph Loeb's 'The Supergirl from Krypton' arc. The plot is serviceable — Kara Zor-El's arrival, brainwashing by Darkseid, and rescue — but follows a fairly predictable superhero template. Voice acting is competent with familiar DC animated universe talent delivering reliable performances without standout moments. Animation and cinematography are above the TV baseline but not exceptional by theatrical standards. Novelty is low as the story hits well-worn beats of the corrupted hero trope and big ensemble battle climax common to DC animated films of this era. The ending resolves cleanly but without particular surprise or emotional weight beyond expectation.
