Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating
A spoiled, wealthy yacht owner is thrown overboard and becomes the target of revenge from his mistreated employee.
This 2018 remake of the 1987 Goldie Hawn/Kurt Russell comedy gender-swaps the premise but otherwise follows a largely familiar and predictable arc. The plot relies on well-worn amnesia and class-reversal tropes without adding much freshness. The acting from Ana Faris and Eugenio Derbez is charming enough to elevate the material above its generic bones, and the ending delivers the expected romantic resolution with reasonable warmth. Cinematography is functional but unremarkable. As a remake with a gender-swap twist, it earns minimal novelty points but remains largely derivative of its source material and the broader rom-com formula.
