Follow the launch of Lamborghini’s career as a manufacturer of tractors, a creator of military vehicles during World War II, and the designer of Lamborghini cars, which he launched in 1963 as the high-end sports car company Automobili Lamborghini.
Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend is a fairly by-the-numbers biographical drama that covers the familiar rags-to-riches arc of Ferruccio Lamborghini without much depth or originality. The plot hits expected biographical beats — wartime hardship, business rivalry with Ferrari, eventual triumph — but lacks nuance or dramatic tension. The acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with Frank Grillo giving a solid if unspectacular lead performance. Cinematography is the relative highlight, with some attractive shots of vintage cars and Italian landscapes, though nothing truly distinguished. Novelty is low as it follows well-worn biopic conventions and covers a story many enthusiasts already know, without a distinctive voice or fresh angle. The ending wraps things up predictably, leaving little lasting impression.
