A logger defends his family from a group of dangerous drug runners.
Braven is a lean, competent action-thriller that leans heavily on a familiar siege premise — a capable man defending his family against criminals in an isolated location. The plot offers little surprise beyond genre expectations, and the ending resolves predictably. Jason Momoa brings physicality and some genuine screen presence to the lead role, elevating the material slightly. The Canadian wilderness setting provides decent visual texture and the cinematography captures the rugged environment adequately. However, the film is fairly derivative of cabin-siege thrillers and adds little new to the subgenre, keeping Novelty low. A solid but unremarkable genre exercise.
