A hardened special forces agent fights to protect a young woman from a sinister criminal gang. At the same time, he feels a special connection to the young woman, like they have met in a different life.
Bleeding Steel is a mid-tier Jackie Chan sci-fi action vehicle that blends cyberpunk aesthetics with family drama but struggles to cohere. The plot is a muddled mashup of familiar elements — secret labs, genetic experiments, a mysterious daughter figure — executed without the clarity or originality needed to elevate the material. Chan's performance is earnest but the script underserves him and the supporting cast is largely forgettable. Cinematography has some flashy set pieces and decent production design that lift it slightly above average, but the editing is chaotic. The film recycles well-worn sci-fi action tropes without a distinctive enough voice to stand apart, and the ending fails to deliver a satisfying payoff to its convoluted setup.
