Scooby-Doo and the gang are on the case when a mysterious lake monster starts scaring the guests at a summer resort in Erie Point, where Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy have taken on seasonal jobs to pay for a barn they accidentally burned down. But in addition to sneaking suspicions, there's some romance in the air.
Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster is a live-action TV movie that follows the standard Scooby-Doo mystery formula with minimal deviation. The plot is serviceable but entirely predictable, hitting every expected beat of the masked-villain mystery structure. The acting from the young cast is passable but unpolished, capturing some of the cartoon energy without fully committing. Cinematography is functional TV-movie level work with no standout visual moments. Novelty is low as this is a fairly by-the-numbers entry in the live-action Scooby-Doo adaptations, adding only minor romance subplots to distinguish itself. The ending resolves satisfactorily with the reveal following genre conventions, earning a slight bump for executing the unmasking moment with reasonable energy for its format.
