Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating
On a bleak future Earth, a soldier endures a radical genetic transformation to save humanity. But his wife fears he's becoming more creature than man.
The Titan has an intriguing premise rooted in hard SF concepts — genetic mutation to survive Titan's harsh environment — but squanders it with a plodding, underdeveloped script that fails to explore its ideas meaningfully. The transformation narrative borrows heavily from body-horror and military-experiment tropes without adding much distinction. Acting is serviceable, with Sam Worthington and Taylor Schilling doing competent work given thin material. Cinematography is functional but unremarkable. The ending feels abrupt and unearned, failing to deliver emotional or thematic payoff on the sacrifice angle. Overall a middling genre entry that disappoints relative to its concept.
