When a deadly mist engulfs Paris, people find refuge in the upper floors of the buildings. With no information, no electricity and hardly any supplies, Mathieu, Anna and their daughter Sarah try to survive the disaster.
Just a Breath Away is a visually striking French disaster thriller that makes excellent use of its eerie, fog-drenched Parisian setting to create genuine atmosphere and tension. The cinematography is a clear standout, with the mist-covered cityscape offering haunting and memorable imagery. The father-daughter survival dynamic provides emotional grounding, though the plot leans on familiar disaster-film conventions without fully subverting them. Acting is competent and earnest but unremarkable. The ending feels rushed and emotionally undercooked, failing to deliver a satisfying payoff to the tension built throughout. Novelty is moderate — the Parisian setting and intimate scale distinguish it somewhat from Hollywood blockbusters, but the core survival premise treads well-worn ground.
