Amanda Waller's top-secret "Task Force X" — consisting of Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, and Copperhead — is on a mission to retrieve a mystical object so powerful that they're willing to risk their lives to steal it. However, the Suicide Squad isn't the only group of villains seeking to possess the object. It's a race for the golden prize, and second place isn't an option if they want to stay alive.
Hell to Pay is a competent, R-rated DC animated entry that leans into its adult tone with solid action and a reasonably engaging MacGuffin chase. The ensemble of villains provides decent character dynamics and Deadshot anchors the story well. However, the plot is fairly formulaic — a race-to-retrieve-object structure that doesn't surprise much — and the animation, while functional, is unremarkable for the era. The voice performances are serviceable without being standout, and the film's novelty is limited given it's one of many DCAMU entries following a well-worn template. The ending delivers a reasonably satisfying dark twist consistent with the Suicide Squad's disposable ethos, earning it a slight edge over average.
