A parolee falls for a reclusive movie star while trying to evade a ruthless gangster.
London Boulevard is a stylish but uneven British crime drama that struggles to distinguish itself from the crowded neo-noir genre. The plot is derivative, borrowing heavily from familiar gangster tropes without adding much that feels fresh. The acting is a relative strength — Colin Farrell and Ray Winstone bring credibility to their roles, and Keira Knightley does reasonable work — but the ensemble isn't consistently utilized. Cinematography is competent and occasionally atmospheric but rarely exceptional. The ending feels rushed and unsatisfying, undermining whatever tension had been built. The film occupies a forgettable middle ground in British crime cinema, neither distinctive enough to be memorable nor bad enough to be notorious.
