On Halloween, a group of friends encounter an extreme haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realisation that some nightmares are real.
Haunt (2019) is a competent but largely familiar slasher-horror entry. The premise of a deadly extreme haunted house has been explored before (Hell Fest, similar fare), and the plot follows fairly predictable genre beats with a group of friends being picked off one by one. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable across the board. Cinematography earns a slight edge above average with some effective use of darkness, lighting, and the haunted house environment creating genuine atmosphere. The ending wraps things up adequately with a survivor arc but nothing particularly surprising. Novelty is limited — while the setting is well-used, the concept and execution don't distinguish it meaningfully from similar genre entries.
