A Quiet Place Part II (2021)

Quartile rating: 7.5/10 · 1 rating

Following the events at home, the Abbott family now face the terrors of the outside world. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.

The Quartile Take

A Quiet Place Part II capably expands the world of its predecessor with strong tension-building and some genuinely gripping set-pieces, but the plot itself feels thinner than the original — splitting the family across two storylines dilutes emotional stakes and the island subplot feels underdeveloped. Acting is solid across the board, with Cillian Murphy a welcome addition and Millicent Simmonds carrying much of the film effectively. Cinematography is a genuine highlight: John Krasinski and DP Polly Morgan sustain the suffocating visual tension of the original and even improve on it with the opening flashback sequence, which is technically impressive. Novelty is low — as a direct sequel it replicates the core concept without meaningfully reinventing it; the island setting adds breadth but not fresh ideas. The ending, while effective as a cliffhanger, feels abrupt and incomplete rather than satisfying on its own terms.
