Emma Corrigan, a girl with a few secrets, thinks she’s about to die on a turbulent plane ride. She spills them all to the handsome stranger sitting next to her. At least, she thought he was a stranger. But then, her company’s young and elusive CEO, arrives at the office. It’s him. And he knows every single humiliating detail about her.

The Quartile Take

Can You Keep a Secret? is a fairly formulaic rom-com adapted from Sophie Kinsella's novel. The premise has a fun hook—accidentally confessing all your secrets to your mysterious boss—but the execution follows predictable beats without much subversion. The acting is serviceable; Alexandra Daddario and Tyler Hoechlin have decent chemistry, though neither is given much to work with dramatically. Cinematography is competent but unremarkable, standard for the genre. Novelty is low as the film largely recycles well-worn rom-com tropes (misunderstanding, secret-keeping, big gesture reconciliation) without a distinctive voice or visual style. The ending resolves as expected with little surprise or emotional payoff, landing as a by-the-numbers conclusion.
