A three-person crew on a mission to Mars faces an impossible choice when an unplanned passenger jeopardizes the lives of everyone on board.
Stowaway presents a grounded, understated sci-fi drama with a morally interesting premise, but the plot leans heavily on a well-worn survival dilemma without adding much depth or surprise. The small cast performs capably — Anna Kendrick, Daniel Dae Kim, and Toni Collette bring sincerity to their roles — but the script gives them limited room to truly shine. Visually it's competent and clean, evoking a realistic near-future aesthetic without anything particularly striking. The film's concept of a stowaway creating a resource crisis is not especially original, echoing similar ethical-dilemma-in-space narratives. The ending is emotionally resonant in a quiet, melancholic way, avoiding Hollywood contrivance, which is one of its stronger qualities.
