A Texan traveling across the wild West bringing the news of the world to local townspeople, agrees to help rescue a young girl who was kidnapped.
News of the World is a well-crafted, classically constructed Western driven by Tom Hanks and Helena Zengel's exceptional performances. Dariusz Wolski's cinematography beautifully captures the Texas landscape. However, the plot follows a fairly familiar 'reluctant guardian escorts vulnerable charge across dangerous frontier' template, and while executed with care, it offers little that feels genuinely fresh or singular in conception. The ending is warm but somewhat predictable. Acting and visuals are the clear standouts.
