A story about a seemingly unlikely couple who cross paths under life-threatening circumstances as though they are destined not only to meet but to save each other's lives. Not once, but twice.
Angel Eyes is a modestly crafted romantic drama that leans heavily on familiar genre conventions — the brooding stranger with a tragic past, the tough-but-wounded cop, and a meet-cute born of crisis. Jennifer Lopez delivers a committed performance and Jim Caviezel brings quiet intensity, elevating the material somewhat, but the script is predictable and the emotional beats arrive exactly when expected. The cinematography is functional but unremarkable, and the film's resolution feels rushed and overly tidy given the weight of the trauma it depicts. There is little here that distinguishes it from other early-2000s romantic dramas, making it a competent but largely forgettable entry in the genre.
