Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating
Six people unwittingly find themselves locked in another series of escape rooms, slowly uncovering what they have in common to survive... and discovering they've all played the games before.
Tournament of Champions is a serviceable but formulaic sequel that recycles the core premise of its predecessor without meaningfully expanding it. The escape room set pieces are visually inventive and cinematography carries much of the film's weight, but the plot is thin and derivative, relying on the same 'solve puzzles or die' structure with little narrative depth. The acting is competent but unremarkable, with characters serving primarily as puzzle-solving tools rather than developed individuals. Novelty is low given how closely it mirrors the original's formula, and the ending—leaning into sequel-bait territory—feels unsatisfying and cynically constructed rather than earned.
