In a short musical film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, Thom Yorke of Radiohead stars in a mind-bending visual piece. Best played loud.
Anima is a 15-minute avant-garde visual album piece with breathtaking choreography and cinematography by Paul Thomas Anderson, featuring surreal dreamlike sequences that are visually stunning and wholly distinctive. Thom Yorke's presence is magnetic and the visual language is unmistakably singular — a perfect marriage of music and image. However, as a narrative piece the 'plot' is minimal and impressionistic by design, and the ending resolves more as a fade than a dramatic payoff. Its novelty and cinematography are genuinely exceptional; the experience is more sensory than narrative.
