The Quartile Take

Halloween Kills is a middling slasher sequel that struggles to justify its existence as a bridge film. The plot is thin and repetitive — Michael Myers stalks and kills while the townspeople form an ineffective mob — with little narrative momentum or meaningful character development. The acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with even Jamie Lee Curtis sidelined for most of the runtime. Cinematography has some strong moments, particularly the flashback sequences and neon-soaked kills, but doesn't rise to the level of Green's 2018 predecessor. Novelty is low; the film offers little new thematically or stylistically, leaning heavily on legacy callbacks and escalating body counts without fresh ideas. The ending is particularly weak — killing off a beloved legacy character and leaving Michael triumphant feels less like a bold choice and more like an unsatisfying setup for the next installment, frustrating audiences without delivering meaningful payoff.
