Madrid, Spain, 2010. While the whole city follows the national team's successful participation in the World Cup, a group of daring thieves look for a way into one of the most secure and guarded places on the planet.
The Vault is a competent Spanish heist thriller that cleverly uses the 2010 World Cup as a distraction backdrop for its central caper. The plot is engaging enough with reasonable tension and some inventive mechanics around the vault infiltration, though it follows fairly standard heist-film beats. Acting is solid across the board without being particularly memorable. Cinematography is functional and occasionally stylish but unremarkable. The World Cup integration gives it a degree of novelty and local flavor that elevates it slightly above generic heist fare, but the ending feels rushed and somewhat unsatisfying, failing to deliver the payoff the setup promised.
