Young musician Zach Sobiech discovers his cancer has spread, leaving him just a few months to live. With limited time, he follows his dream and makes an album, unaware that it will soon be a viral music phenomenon.
Clouds is a heartfelt true-story drama about Zach Sobiech's final months that earns genuine emotional weight, particularly in its ending which delivers a devastating and authentic farewell anchored by the real footage and music. The plot follows a fairly familiar terminal-illness arc — inspiring young person faces death with grace and creativity — and doesn't subvert expectations structurally. Acting is solid and earnest, with Fin Argus giving a committed central performance, though the supporting cast is serviceable rather than exceptional. Cinematography is competent and warmly lit but not visually distinctive. Novelty is low because the terminal-illness inspirational biopic is a well-worn genre, and while Zach's story is genuinely moving, the film's execution doesn't reimagine the form. The ending, however, stands out by incorporating real archival footage and the actual song's cultural resonance, giving it an emotional authenticity that rises above the genre average.
