The Forgotten Battle tells an earnest, multi-perspective story of the largely overlooked Battle of the Scheldt, giving it some historical novelty value, but the intersecting-fates narrative structure feels somewhat conventional for the WWII drama genre. The acting is solid across the board without any standout performances, and the Dutch production values deliver competent but unremarkable cinematography. The ending, while emotionally intended, feels rushed and not fully earned given the narrative threads it tries to resolve, leaving the dramatic payoff somewhat flat.
