When a law-abiding woman gets indicted for murdering her husband, her lawyer soon realizes that a larger conspiracy may be at work.
Tyler Perry's Netflix thriller is a mixed bag — the conspiracy twist in the ending generates some genuine pulpy fun and elevates the finale above the rest of the film, but the plot is riddled with clichés and logical gaps, the acting ranges from serviceable to stiff, the cinematography is flat and visibly rushed (reportedly shot in just five days), and the overall conception is largely derivative of courtroom drama conventions. The ending twist is memorable enough to earn a slight bump, but nothing else rises above the formulaic.
