The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)

Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating

Terror grips a small mountain town as bodies are discovered after each full moon. Losing sleep, raising a teenage daughter, and caring for his ailing father, officer Marshall struggles to remind himself there's no such thing as werewolves.

The Quartile Take

The Wolf of Snow Hollow is a dark comedy horror hybrid that distinguishes itself mostly through Jim Cummings' raw, emotionally exhausting performance as the fraying Officer Marshall. The plot is a fairly standard werewolf mystery that leans more on character dysfunction than genre mechanics, which works in its favor but leaves the mystery itself underdeveloped. Cinematography is competent and captures the snowy Utah setting effectively without being visually adventurous. The novelty comes primarily from its tonal blend — part grief drama, part absurdist comedy, part creature feature — giving it a distinctive voice even if the underlying structure is familiar. The ending deflates somewhat, resolving the mystery in a way that feels rushed and emotionally unsatisfying given the buildup, undercutting the film's stronger moments.
