A WWII pilot traveling with top secret documents on a B-17 Flying Fortress encounters an evil presence on board the flight.
Shadow in the Cloud is a wildly uneven genre mashup that starts as a claustrophobic bottle thriller confined to a gun turret, then devolves into increasingly absurd action-horror spectacle. The gremlin concept and WWII setting are an intriguing combination, and Chloë Grace Moretz commits fully to the lead role, but the plot logic collapses entirely in the third act with physics-defying action sequences that undermine any built tension. Cinematography is functional with some effective tight-space atmosphere in the turret sequences. The ending goes so far into pulpy excess that it loses the grounded dread established early on. Novelty gets a modest bump for the genuinely unusual premise, but the execution is too erratic to capitalize on its distinctive setup.
