When best friends and total opposites Debbie and Peter swap homes for a week, they get a peek into each other's lives that could open the door to love.
Your Place or Mine is a formulaic romantic comedy that leans heavily on well-worn tropes: opposites-attract best friends, a house swap, and a predictable slow-burn romance. The plot offers few surprises and telegraphs its conclusion early. Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher deliver competent but unremarkable performances, with their chemistry feeling more obligatory than organic. The cinematography is serviceable TV-movie level, alternating between Los Angeles and New York without much visual distinction or artistry. Novelty is low — the house-swap premise and friends-to-lovers arc are thoroughly familiar territory, and the film does little to distinguish itself within the crowded romcom landscape. The ending resolves predictably without emotional payoff commensurate with the buildup, landing as pleasant but forgettable.
