After the events at Lake Victoria, the prehistoric school of blood-thirsty piranhas make their way into swimming pools, plumbing, and a newly opened water park.
Piranha 3DD is a shameless cash-grab sequel that abandons even the self-aware campy charm of its predecessor. The plot is virtually nonexistent — piranhas invade a water park — with no narrative tension or coherent structure. Acting is largely forgettable, with David Hasselhoff's self-parody being the sole memorable element. Cinematography is serviceable at best, lacking the inventive kills and visual flair of the first film. Novelty is minimal as it simply recycles the formula without adding anything distinctive. The ending is particularly weak, feeling abrupt and unsatisfying even by exploitation-film standards.
