The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999)

Quartile rating: 5.5/10 · 1 rating

A horrible massacre strikes up after an outcast teenage girl is taunted by a group of high school jocks, all of them unaware of her cutthroat telekinetic powers.

The Quartile Take

A largely unnecessary sequel to Brian De Palma's classic, The Rage: Carrie 2 recycles the original's core premise almost beat-for-beat — outcast girl, cruel peers, telekinetic revenge — without adding meaningful new ideas. The plot is formulaic and the screenplay lacks the psychological depth of the source. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable across the board. Cinematography is competent late-90s genre work with occasional stylistic flourishes but nothing memorable. Novelty is genuinely low: this is a by-the-numbers retread that fails to distinguish itself from its predecessor or the broader teen horror wave of the era. The climactic revenge sequence provides some visceral payoff, giving the ending a slight edge over the rest of the film.
