The Quartile Take

Catch.44 is a low-budget Tarantino-esque thriller that borrows heavily from Pulp Fiction's nonlinear structure and quirky criminal ensemble without adding much originality. The plot is convoluted but not in an engaging way, and the twists feel forced rather than earned. The acting is uneven — Forest Whitaker adds some presence but the leads struggle with underdeveloped characters. Cinematography has some stylistic ambition that elevates it slightly above the material. Overall it's a derivative, forgettable entry in the crime-thriller genre.
