In the not-too-distant future: after a global catastrophe has wiped out nearly all of humanity on Earth, an elite astronaut from Space Colony Kepler must make a decision that will seal the fate of the people on both planets.
The Colony presents a post-apocalyptic premise that feels well-worn, drawing heavily on familiar dystopian tropes without meaningfully subverting them. The plot suffers from pacing issues and underdeveloped world-building that leave its more ambitious ideas underexplored. Acting is competent, with Nora Arnezeder delivering a solid lead performance that elevates middling material. Cinematography is serviceable with some evocative flooded-Earth imagery, but nothing particularly distinctive. The ending resolves its central tension in a predictable and somewhat unsatisfying way, failing to capitalize on the moral complexity the premise promised.
