Vivien, an accomplished student with a passion for physics, and Roy, a troubled young man, are involved in an accident that forces them to reclaim their lives one minute at the time.
Time Is Up is a fairly generic YA romance-drama that follows well-worn tropes of an unlikely pairing between a studious overachiever and a troubled rebel. The plot offers little surprise, leaning heavily on familiar beats of the genre. Acting from the leads (Bella Thorne and Benjamin Mascolo) is serviceable but uneven, lacking the emotional depth needed to elevate the material. Cinematography is the relative bright spot, with some appealing visual choices that give the film a modest aesthetic appeal. Novelty is low as the film treads well-traveled territory without a distinctive voice or fresh angle. The ending resolves predictably, offering little emotional payoff beyond what audiences would anticipate from the outset.
