Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating
Desperate to save their marriage, a young couple takes a deal to move into their dream home, but disturbing events reveal the house's troubled history.
Aftermath follows a well-worn haunted-house-with-dark-history template without meaningfully subverting or elevating the formula. The plot mechanics are predictable — troubled marriage, sinister house secrets, escalating paranoia — and the twists land without much impact. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with the leads struggling to bring depth to thinly written characters. Cinematography is competent and occasionally atmospheric, using the house setting effectively to build dread. Novelty is low; the premise recycles familiar domestic thriller and haunted house beats with little distinctive voice. The ending attempts a dark resolution but feels rushed and unsatisfying, failing to pay off the tension it builds.
