Five people travelling by camper crash into a tree. When they recover, the road they were driving on has been replaced by an impenetrable forest and a wooden house.

The Quartile Take

A Classic Horror Story starts with a promising folk-horror premise — strangers stranded in a mysterious forest with a cult — but fumbles its ambitious meta twist in the third act. The self-referential finale, which critiques the horror genre and snuff culture, is conceptually bold but executed clumsily, feeling more gimmicky than earned. Acting is serviceable but rarely rises above genre-standard performances. The Italian setting and folk-horror aesthetic lend some visual distinction, though cinematography is competent rather than remarkable. Novelty is moderate: the meta deconstruction angle sets it apart from standard folk horror, but the execution doesn't fully capitalize on the concept. The ending is its weakest point — the twist undermines rather than deepens the tension built throughout.
