Years after the Racoon City catastrophe, survivors travel across the Nevada desert, hoping to make it to Alaska. Alice joins the caravan and their fight against hordes of zombies and the evil Umbrella Corp.
Resident Evil: Extinction shifts the franchise to a post-apocalyptic desert setting, which gives it a marginally fresher visual palette than its predecessors, but the plot remains thin and formulaic — survivors vs. zombies vs. Umbrella Corp with little narrative depth. Milla Jovovich carries the action capably but the supporting cast is largely underdeveloped, keeping acting squarely below average. The Nevada wasteland cinematography has some memorable Mad Max-esque imagery, earning a modest bump. Novelty is low given its derivative nature as a by-the-numbers sequel recycling familiar franchise beats. The ending sets up yet another sequel with a clone army tease that feels more perfunctory than satisfying.
