Quartile rating: 7/10 · 1 rating

Alma is a scientist coerced into participating in an extraordinary study in order to obtain research funds for her work. For three weeks, she has to live with a humanoid robot tailored to her character and needs, whose artificial intelligence is designed to be the perfect life partner for her. Enter Tom, a machine in human form in a class of its own, created solely to make her happy.

The Quartile Take

I'm Your Man is a thoughtful German sci-fi romance that benefits enormously from Dan Stevens' charming and nuanced performance as Tom, and Maren Eggert's grounded work as the skeptical Alma. The film explores familiar AI companionship territory (echoes of Her, Ex Machina) with warmth and wit but doesn't push far beyond the philosophical questions it raises. The Berlin setting is used pleasantly but not memorably. The ending feels somewhat anticlimactic and inconclusive — it gestures at emotional resolution without fully committing, leaving the central ethical and emotional questions somewhat unresolved in a deflating rather than provocative way.
