Bird Box Barcelona is a Spanish spin-off of the Netflix original that transplants the creature-blindfold premise to a new setting without meaningfully expanding or reinventing it. The plot introduces a religious cult angle that adds some intrigue but ultimately follows a formulaic survival-thriller structure with predictable beats. Acting is serviceable with Mario Casas lending some credibility to the lead role. The cinematography captures Barcelona's landmarks and desolate streets with competence but rarely with distinction. As a spin-off it recycles the core conceit of the original without enough novelty to justify its existence beyond brand extension. The ending resolves without much impact or surprise, feeling mechanical rather than earned.
