A diplomatic couple adopts the son of the devil without knowing it. A remake of the classic horror film of the same name from 1976.

The Quartile Take

A near shot-for-shot remake of the 1976 Richard Donner classic, The Omen (2006) adds virtually nothing new to its source material. The plot faithfully follows the original but loses the tension and dread that made it iconic. Acting from Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles is competent but lacks the gravitas Gregory Peck and Lee Remick brought to the roles. Cinematography is serviceable but uninspired, failing to generate the same atmosphere as the original. Novelty is rock-bottom — this is a textbook example of a formulaic, unnecessary remake that recycles everything without adding a distinctive voice or fresh perspective. The ending, like the rest of the film, mirrors the original closely but without the same emotional punch.
