After surviving a car accident that took the life of her boyfriend, a teenage girl believes he's attempting to reconnect with her from the after world.
The In Between is a fairly standard YA romantic drama with a supernatural twist — a grieving teen connecting with her deceased boyfriend from the afterlife. The premise borrows heavily from similar ghost-romance fare (Ghost, The Lovely Bones, etc.) without offering meaningful reinvention. The acting is competent and emotionally earnest, particularly from the leads, and the cinematography has some stylish moments fitting the dreamy tone. However, the plot relies on well-worn genre beats and the ending, while emotionally intended to be cathartic, lands predictably and without much surprise. It scores reasonably with its target audience but doesn't distinguish itself in any standout way.
