The Quartile Take

House at the End of the Street is a fairly generic teen thriller/horror that follows well-worn genre tropes without much originality. The plot has a twist involving cross-dressing and hidden identity that feels more contrived than shocking, and the overall narrative is predictable and underdeveloped. Jennifer Lawrence's performance elevates the material somewhat, showcasing her natural screen presence even in a formulaic vehicle. Cinematography is competent but unremarkable, offering little visual distinction. The ending attempts a dramatic reveal but lands as implausible rather than satisfying. A largely forgettable entry in the genre that coasts on its young star's charisma.
