A teen in 2024 accidentally time-travels to 2003, days before a masked killer murders her sister. Can she change the past without destroying the future?
Time Cut blends time-travel mechanics with slasher horror in a modestly clever way, leaning into Y2K nostalgia and a 'Back to the Future meets Scream' premise that gives it some charm. The plot is reasonably engaging for the genre mash-up, with enough twists to hold interest, though it relies heavily on familiar slasher and time-travel clichés. Acting is serviceable but uneven, with the leads doing acceptable work while supporting players feel thin. Cinematography is functional and adequately captures the period contrast but offers nothing visually distinctive. The ending wraps up a bit too neatly and predictably, undermining some of the tension built earlier. Its novelty comes from the genre combination and nostalgic setting rather than any groundbreaking execution.
