Zero Fucks Given (2022)

Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating

Cassandre, 26, is a flight attendant for a low-cost airline. Based in Lanzarote, she’s always willing to take on extra hours and carries out her duties with robotic efficiency. On the side, she just goes with the flow and floats between Tinder, parties and lazy days. When she suddenly gets dismissed, she is forced to return home.

The Quartile Take

Zero Fucks Given is a quiet, naturalistic French drama about emotional detachment and directionless young adulthood. The lead performance by Adèle Exarchopoulos anchors the film with understated conviction, and the observational style captures the numbing routine of low-cost airline work with authenticity. The cinematography is competent but unshowy, fitting the film's flat emotional register. The premise is modestly distinctive in its milieu but doesn't push into truly singular territory — the drifting-young-woman narrative is well-trodden. The ending feels somewhat inconclusive, leaving threads unresolved in a way that reads more as avoidance than earned ambiguity, which limits its impact.
