A couple falls in love and agrees to meet in six months at the Empire State Building - but will it happen?
An Affair to Remember is a polished Hollywood romantic melodrama elevated by the undeniable chemistry and performances of Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, who bring genuine warmth and sophistication to their roles. The plot, while emotionally engaging, follows a fairly conventional will-they-won't-they romance structure, and as a remake of Love Affair (1939), it lacks strong novelty marks. The CinemaScope cinematography is handsome but unremarkable for the era. The ending, though famously affecting, leans heavily on melodramatic contrivance rather than earned surprise, making it more sentimental than truly powerful.
