On an uninhabitable 22nd-century Earth, the outcome of a civil war hinges on cloning the brain of an elite soldier to create a robot mercenary.

The Quartile Take

JUNG_E is a Korean sci-fi action film with an intriguing premise about cloning a legendary soldier's brain to power combat AI, but it struggles to fully develop its emotional and thematic potential. The plot, while conceptually interesting, feels underdeveloped and relies on familiar dystopian and AI tropes without adding much new. The acting, particularly from Kang Soo-yeon in her final role and Kim Hyun-joo, is competent and emotionally grounded. Cinematography is polished and serviceable for a Netflix production. The film's novelty is limited — the AI/clone ethics territory has been well-covered, and JUNG_E doesn't bring a sufficiently distinctive voice or execution to stand out. The ending feels rushed and somewhat unsatisfying, failing to capitalize on the emotional buildup it attempted to create.
