Three Kryptonian criminals led by General Zod team up with Lex Luthor to conquer Earth, forcing a depowered Superman to regain his strength and stop them.
Superman II is a fun, energetic sequel that expands the mythology with General Zod and his Kryptonian villains, providing genuine menace and spectacle. The plot is engaging if somewhat loose, and the central romantic arc between Clark and Lois adds emotional stakes. Acting is solid across the board — Terence Stamp is iconic as Zod, and Christopher Reeve remains charming. Cinematography is competent for its era without being especially distinctive. The film introduced the now-classic trio of Kryptonian villains and explored Superman giving up his powers for love, which felt fresh at the time. However, the ending is notably weak — the memory-erasing kiss resolves the Lois dilemma too conveniently, and the Zod confrontation's resolution relies on an unexplained reversal of the Fortress's power-stripping mechanism, undermining narrative integrity. A beloved but imperfect sequel.
