Creep (2004)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

Trapped in a London subway station, a woman who's being pursued by a potential attacker heads into the unknown labyrinth of tunnels beneath the city's streets

The Quartile Take

Creep is a passable British horror set in the London Underground with an effectively claustrophobic atmosphere but suffers from a thin, underdeveloped plot that relies heavily on contrivance. The acting is serviceable, with Franka Potente carrying the film adequately. Cinematography captures the grimy tunnels with reasonable skill, lending genuine dread in places. The creature/villain concept has some novelty within its setting but doesn't transcend genre conventions enough to feel truly distinctive. The ending is unsatisfying and abrupt, failing to deliver a payoff commensurate with the tension built earlier.
