When an old acquaintance is murdered, Wolff is compelled to solve the case. Realizing more extreme measures are necessary, Wolff recruits his estranged and highly lethal brother, Brax, to help. In partnership with Marybeth Medina, they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of killers who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried.
The Accountant² is a competent but formulaic sequel that leans heavily on the established formula of the original. The plot delivers a serviceable whodunit conspiracy thriller with the Wolff brothers teaming up, which adds some freshness to the dynamic, but the overall structure is fairly predictable for the genre. Acting is solid with Ben Affleck reprising his role and the ensemble delivering serviceable performances without anyone particularly elevating the material. Cinematography is workmanlike genre filmmaking — functional and slick but not especially distinctive. Novelty suffers as this is fundamentally a by-the-numbers sequel recycling the original's beats with a brother dynamic added; it doesn't carve out a truly singular identity. The ending resolves the conspiracy adequately without leaving a lasting impression.
